born in dublin to a laicized priest and a florist, thomas was the apple of his parents lives from the second he was born. sean macbrady had found work in advertising following his departure from the priesthood but found the catholic climate of the city wasn't exactly warm when it came to dealing with ex-clergy and when thomas was six the decision was made to uproot the family, including thomas and his little sister rose, and relocate them to long island. thomas' father made a name for himself in the city, snagging a top paying job for a notable pharmaceuticals distributor and the family wanted for very little for most of thomas' life.

he found his love for music at an early age, listening to the scratched old vinyl copies of his mother's beatles and rolling stones albums over and over on a loop. it was in his early teens that he discovered the music of the smiths, and the discovery conincided with two of the most important events of his young life. his father gifted him a guitar on his fourteeth birthday, encouraging him to do more than simply learn to play - sean wanted to see creativity spark within his son, he wanted him to write and imagine and turn simple chords into music that was all his own. thomas struggled at first, finding himself ultimately uninspired to do anything other than fumble through awkward covers of morrissey's greatest hits. but a few months later, tragedy struck.

while driving home from the city a few weeks before christmas, sean's car skidded on a patch of black ice and sent his car careening into the barrier of a bridge not far from their home. the impact killed him instantly and shook thomas to the core. his mother was suddenly left as the main breadwinner of the house and though the life insurance payment was hefty and there was quite a bit in savings the money didn't hold out for long and by the time he was sixteen thomas was uprooted from his childhood home and moved to a less desirable part of long island. his mother opened her own floral boutique and thomas began skipping school in order to pick up odd jobs in order to slip a little extra money into her wallet whenever she wasn't looking.

it was during this time that he began to take his songwriting with some sense of sincerity. with emotional fodder swirling around him he threw himself head first into music in an attempt to keep himself above water. he started playing for his sister at first, and then gained the confidence to play at school talent shows and functions. it was here that he found himself in his first band, formed with his longtime best friend. they two boys focused entirely on their future as a band, letting schoolwork and homelife slip aside as they began to aspire for a life bigger than long island. they attended the same college so that they wouldn't lose sight of their goal. they had the starts of what they hoped would be their first album in the works right as they were both set to graduate with their degrees when things began to spin out of control.

thomas met her after a show - she was beautiful, and smart, and witty and everything that he coveted in a girl. he wooed her, bought her gifts, showered her with bouquets and trinkets. he was positive he'd found the girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. and then they threw their graduation party. and when he staggered drunkenly into his best friends room and found him laying next to the woman he'd invested so much in, he snapped. the band broke up that instant and the resulting anger and resentment resulted in one of the most intense rivlaries in musical history.

his first album with his new band, released on a small hometown lable, gained nationwide notoriety and the subsequent rise to fame was fueled by the barbs that the rival bands were throwing back and forth at each other as quickly as the internet could report them. but with the notoriety came a new found respect for artistry and thomas began to challenge himself, more and more, with each album. and with every dollar he made he always ensured that his mother and little sister were taken care of at home.

in 2009, following a brief tour and an unscheduled trip to rehab as he realized his drinking was beginning to spin out of control, thomas dropped out of the spotlight. he bought a small place in london and crept away from the media, choosing instead to focus on his family and his friends. interest in his band, and his genre of music began to taper and reemerging into the spotlight began to seem more and more unlikely as he neglected his music more and more often. the radio was silent for almost four years before the band reunited and slowly began to play shows again. they released no new material, simply played classics at slowly growing venues, realizing that interest in them wasn't gone entirely, just dormant, waiting for them to resurface out of the cocoon they'd been nestled in.

they're currently in the midst of wrapping up a new - and rumored final record - and enjoying what has been hinted at as a good bye tour.
